Senator Shaheen seeks a detail-oriented Deputy Press Secretary to join a fast-paced communications team in her Washington, D.C. office. The Deputy Press Secretary will assist the communications department with all functions of the press team, including drafting written materials and memos. Primary duties will include drafting press advisories, press releases, statements, video scripts, interview memos and other written materials for the Senator; coordinating with other offices on legislative priorities; and assisting the Communications Director and Press Secretary with reporter responses and pitching. This position will also be involved in the creation of digital content across social media platforms.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Careful attention to detail;
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and manage competing deadlines;
  • Ability to work closely in a team environment as well as work independently;
  • Sound political judgment;
  • 1-3 years of previous communications experience preferred.
