Position Details

Title:                Outreach Coordinator

FTE:                1 FTE (full-time)

Reporting to:   Director, CAIR Office in Maryland

Position Summary:

CAIR is seeking a qualified individual for the full-time position of Outreach Coordinator for its office in Maryland. The position reports to the Maryland director.

The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of volunteer participation, including recruitment, training, supervision, and scheduling; special event planning, coordination, organization, and promotion; community relations development including Friday/jummah tabling; and other administrative tasks and projects.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Schedule and coordinate community outreach events including Friday jummah tabling, speeches, workshops, film screenings, conferences, and banquet.
  • Facilitate meetings and events (virtual and in-person).
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule interns and volunteers.
  • Manage and increase CAIR’s social media presence in Maryland.
  • Build and expand CAIR’s listservs in Maryland.
  • Develop partnerships with other Muslim or civil rights organizations to increase outreach.
  • Coordinate tours and visits to the Maryland office.
  • Design, implement, and coordinate community outreach plan.
  • Assist with negotiations for event contracts and book event space, arrange food and beverage, order supplies and audiovisual equipment, make travel arrangements, order event signs, and oversee all details of events. Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters.
  • Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process.
  • Provide periodic progress reports for the Maryland office and major events.
  • Keep track of event finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting
  • Coordinating events.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, including writing and proofreading skills
  • A strong work ethic that reflects CAIR’s mission and vision
  • Some degree of flexible work hours preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from staff and volunteers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with a high degree of professionalism
  • Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • At least 1-year experience coordinating special events preferred
  • Proficient in using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and mail merges; email and web searches.
  • Familiarity, knowledge, and experience working with the American Muslim community are desired and must have experience working with Mosques.

Fluency in languages other than English is an asset. Must have transportation and be able to travel for outreach events.
