Hughes Socol Piers Resnick & Dym, Ltd. (HSPRD), a Chicago-based law firm with a national practice, seeks an experienced Senior Attorney to work with the firm’s Complex Litigation group, which has a practice concentrated in the areas of Civil Rights & Constitutional Law, Labor & Employment Law, and False Claims Act/Qui Tam litigation.

We seek an experienced attorney to work with the firm on complex civil litigation matters. Candidates should have at least seven years of experience, including significant experience supervising complex litigation and junior attorneys in all aspects of litigation in federal and state court, including developing new cases, client contact, discovery and motion practice, trials, and appeals. The attorney who fills this position will join the firm as a non-equity partner.
The proposed start date for the position will be approximately October 1, 2022, but that date is flexible, and we require proof of full vaccination and booster.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have:
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytic skills;
- At least seven years of demonstrated experience litigating complex cases on issues related to constitutional law, discrimination, workers’ rights, immigrants’ rights, government misconduct, and class actions;
- Demonstrated supervisory and case management experience working with junior attorneys and co-counsel;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and persuasively;
- Excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously;
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team and to maintaining inclusive work spaces;
- Demonstrated commitment to issues central to the group’s practice;
- Willingness to help generate and build business for the practice group;
- Active engagement with the Chicago legal community;
- Willingness to work on cases with the firm’s other practice groups, as circumstances require; and
- Fluency in Spanish is valued, though not required.
Candidates must have at least seven years of litigation experience, including significant experience supervising complex litigation and junior attorneys. The firm values a demonstrated commitment to public interest, judicial clerkships, fellowships, and other significant work experience before or after law school related to our practice areas and clients. Admission to the Illinois Bar, eligibility to waive in to the Illinois bar, or willingness to take the Illinois Bar within six months of hire is required.
Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $170,000, dependent on experience. Attorneys also are eligible for year-end bonuses based on individual and firm performance. HSPRD offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a matching 401K and profit-sharing program.
