The Jane Fonda Climate PAC is a federal hybrid PAC focused on supporting candidates who will act on the science to combat the climate crisis and work to end the era of fossil fuels by opposing new fossil fuel infrastructure, investing heavily in clean energy sources, and eventually phasing out existing fossil fuel infrastructure across the country.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Field Organizer to build and manage a targeted field program in specific districts in California for the 2024 election cycle and beyond. The California Field Director would be responsible for recruiting, training and supporting volunteers as they contact voters in their neighborhoods to educate and mobilize them on climate issues and to support pro-environment candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a field program modeled on the Democratic Party of Oregon’s Neighborhood Leader Program in coordination with the PAC team.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers to do the work. 
  • Sometimes carrying out tedious rinse-and-repeat tasks to keep the volunteer teams running, e.g. updating daily trackers, making confirmation and introductory calls to volunteers, standardizing spreadsheets
  • Troubleshoot volunteer workflows to make them more efficient and accessible
  • Assist with organizing events such as house parties, media events and more
  • Communicate priorities and instructions clearly to volunteers
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with local groups and stakeholders
  • Utilize data-driven approaches for voter targeting and program assessment.
  • Collaborate with PAC leadership to align field efforts with broader campaign goals.
  • Coordinate with other departments as needed to advance PAC goals
  • Provide periodic updates on the status of the program to PAC leadership.

Requirements

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • At least one cycle in field organizing, particularly in political or environmental campaigns.
  • Comfort and ability to stay on task while working remotely
  • Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep commitment to environmental issues and climate activism.
  • Familiarity with campaign technologies and voter databases (Votebuilder, Dialer & Texting Software, etc)
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced campaign environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
