Ervin Graves Strategy Group is seeking a Manager to join its Defense, Aerospace, and Cyber Security government relations practice group in its offices on Capitol Hill. After nearly 20 years in the Georgia legislature and U.S. House of Representatives, Tom has a reputation for relationship building and forging creative solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing the nation. 

 As a Manager, you will be an integral member of the team and provide advance support and execute strategies for clients in the defense, aerospace, cybersecurity practice group. This role involves legislative and regulatory tracking, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, client management, and direct advocacy efforts. The ideal candidate has strong communication and analytical skills, experience working with government agencies or legislative bodies, understanding of Congress’ defense appropriations and authorizations processes and the ability to manage multiple client priorities effectively.

 This is a full-time, in-person position with full benefits, including medical, vision, dental and retirement plans. Base compensation is commensurate to experience, with ample opportunities for professional development and career growth. Role functions, responsibilities and qualifications include:

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in developing and executing bold political advocacy strategies for organizations ranging from small startups to large businesses, and trade associations and non-profits.
  • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for client accounts and various key stakeholders to ensure strategies and objectives are accomplished.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on legislative and regulatory developments affecting clients across various industries, and provide timely updates and strategic recommendations on relevant policy issues.
  • Draft materials such as white papers, appropriations requests, and policy and advocacy memos for distribution to clients and key political stakeholders.
  • Be available to counsel clients on political topics relevant to their interests and goals. 
  • Supervise the work of practice group Associate-level staff and serve as a bridge between junior and senior team members.
  • Coordinate and participate in client meetings, briefings, and advocacy events.
  • Show confidence when engaging firm stakeholder groups like new prospects, clients, policy makers, Congressional staff, and regulatory officials.
  • Demonstrate interest in developing new strategic relationships with key government officials, legislative staff, regulatory agencies, and industry stakeholders on behalf of the firm.
  • Aid in business development efforts, including researching prospective clients and contributing to proposals.
  • Support firm-wide initiatives to expand services, improve processes, and strengthen client engagement.

Required Education and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor or advanced degree, preferably in government, communications, or a related field.
  • Ideally a minimum of four to six years of related experience working in the federal government or legislative branch, or in a client experience capacity.
  • Clear proficiency in legislative procedure, especially as it relates to the defense appropriations and authorization process. 
  • Experience managing multiple projects and clients in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated high degree of initiative and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across a diverse range of constituencies and drive consensus.
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and excellent time management.
  • Committed to the principle of bipartisanship and collegiality.
  • Excellent political and business judgment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for a Member of Congress that serves on the House or Senate Armed Services Committee, Defense Appropriations subcommittee or as a Professional Staff member on one of those committees is preferred.
  • Success leading small teams

 Compensation and Featured Benefits: 

  • $75,000 to $98,000
