We are in search of a Senior Manager, Publishing for the American Pharmacists Association located in Washington, D.C. This is a Full Time, Hybrid, Direct Hire position with an annual salary range of $97,000 - 115,000/ yr. plus benefits.

Is This Your Dream Job? The Senior Manager, Publishing serves as a subject matter expert for the Publishing department. He/she participates in issue planning, creates content, assists with production for Pharmacy Today, participates in content evaluation and development of new technology for content delivery, and serves as a representative of APhA member needs in all areas of publishing.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Experience and Education required:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school or college of pharmacy required (Post-graduate training is preferred)
- 5+ years of relevant experience or 1+ year of a Residency/Fellowship and 2+ years of relevant experience in an association or nonprofit
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations and compliance standards
- Proven experience in pharmacology and content creation for pharmacists
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects in a timely fashion, adhere to deadlines, and plan projects effectively
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, innovative environment
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with data analytics and performance-tracking tools
- Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
- Ability to travel to the annual meeting
- Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, and InCopy
- Proficiency in AI-powered publishing tools and digital content management systems preferred
How You Will Spend Your Day:
Pharmacy Today:
- Leads/participates in the monthly issue planning call with the PT editor-in-chief, suggesting appropriate copy for each issue
- Leads/participates in the monthly PT Art Meeting with Creative Services to discuss appropriate images for each issue
- Write New & Approved and at least two Clinical or Practice stories for each issue
- Collaborates with the editorial team to proof each book dummy to ensure accuracy and alignment with pharmacy best practices, providing pharmacist perspective on content
- Assists with production steps, including setting up the production planner, creating the imposition, and editing content within InCopy
Digital Publishing/electronic resources:
- Leads/participates in the review process for all content
- Serves as a liaison to authors, including coaching authors on procedures, house style, and content-delivery preparation
- Leads/participates in the marketing and promotion activities to ensure the publication of high-quality content and promotion of content that aligns with the mission and provides an ROI to the Association.
- Completes timebound reviews of composition proofs by proofreading and annotating corrections for revisions
- Reviews Pharmacotherapy First modules and suggests appropriate updates
Technology:
- Keeps up to date on technology trends in publishing and content delivery
- Investigate new applications of technology for the delivery of content, including AI, online content, and apps
- Participates in the implementation of new technology for delivering APhA content, including working with DIS and app developers
- Works with DIS and Creative Services to ensure that the online version of all content meets the needs of pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy teams
