Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Community Engagement Specialist – Public Affairs Specialist 2 position. We are looking for talented, detail-oriented individuals to join our Communication Section. This position is headquartered in our Salem office; however, the successful candidate may be eligible for in state hybrid work. Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely.
***You must be a current employee with the Oregon Department of Revenue to apply for this position. This includes permanent status, trial service, and limited duration employees. DOR temporary, volunteer and contract employees are not included***

What You Will Be Doing

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute public, employee, and community engagement and communication activities.
  • Lead engagement with culturally specific organizations to ensure the department’s programs are accessible to Oregon’s historically and currently underserved and under resourced communities.
  • Represent the Oregon Department of Revenue in public meetings, task force meetings, external stakeholder meetings, and other settings.
  • Suggest effective community engagement and communication methods to agency managers.

This Is What You Need To Qualify
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, the Behavioral or Social Sciences or related degree and two years professional level experience in Public Relations or Affairs
OR
Five years experience directly related to the position under recruitment; two of the five years must have been at the professional level.
The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes:
  • Experience developing strategic, comprehensive, and integrated community engagement plans for public communication and involvement on programs projects, issues, and initiatives.
  • Experience advising leadership on opportunities for messaging and engagement that align with organizational objectives.
  • Experience assessing communications and community engagement needs.
  • Experience developing and distributing print, online, video, and other graphic materials for the department.
  • Experience preparing materials for community engagement such as public notices, fact sheets, flyers, brochures, or speeches, involving communities in the development of communications.
