Job Description
Position Overview:
The Communications and Development Associate at TCS will play a crucial role in promoting the organization’s mission and programs through digital outreach and engagement. This individual will be responsible for creating and managing content across various digital platforms, supporting fundraising initiatives, and enhancing TCS’s digital presence. The ideal candidate will have two to four years of relevant experience, a passion for TCS’s issues, a desire to grow as a communications lead, and strong writing and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Digital Outreach and Content Creation
- Develop and manage content for TCS’s social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, and LinkedIn, as well as flagging opportunities for rapid responses.
- Create and distribute email blasts, newsletters, and petitions to engage and grow TCS’s audience.
- Design and implement digital ads on social media platforms and Google Ads.
- Track and analyze digital engagement metrics to optimize content and strategies.
- Help maintain and update the TCS website using WordPress, ensuring content is current and aligns with brand standards.
Design and Technical Skills
- Create visually appealing ads and promotional materials using design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator as well as Canva).
- Ensure all digital content adheres to TCS’s brand guidelines and quality standards.
- Utilize email marketing platforms to segment and target communications effectively.
Communications and Policy Support
- Collaborate with the team to draft, edit, and publish content that elevates TCS’s message across various policy issues.
- Identify opportunities to promote TCS’s work and message through strategic communications.
- Support the development of fact sheets, white papers, reports, and other educational materials.
- Assist in organizing and managing communications materials and logistics for special projects, public presentations, and press events.
Fundraising and Development Support
- Assist with donor outreach and communication efforts, including the creation of proposals and reports for funders.
- Support the planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns.
- Help manage donor records and track engagement to enhance fundraising strategies.
Qualifications:
- Relevant experience in communications, digital media, or a related field.
- Strong passion for TCS’s mission and policy issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex policy issues clearly and compellingly.
- Proficiency in WordPress and experience managing a website’s content and functionality.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging social media content and manage digital ad campaigns.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize projects in a fast-paced environment.
