WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Global Director of Donor Relations proposes, develops, and directs strategic priorities for donor communications, stewardship, and engagement; and directs the development of strategies, plans, and tactics to deliver those services across the organization. They direct the development and implementation of long-range strategic priorities for donor relations and ensure the programmatic work is a collaborative and well-integrated effort across the organization. They identify and direct the organizational systems and processes needed to ensure success in the organization’s ability to engage and steward TNC’s core prospects and donors, including major, principal and planned giving donors. They will direct long-range strategic priorities, and work with programs to establish, monitor and track measures, lead indicators, and activity-level benchmarks to achieve key results. They oversee, direct, and guide the teams responsible for translating and packaging the Conservancy’s highest-priority conservation initiatives and campaign priorities for the donor audience; designing and implementing comprehensive, measurable stewardship plans; implementing gift solicitation and administration best practices; and overseeing complex donor engagement travel and event programs. The Director regularly collaborates with development, membership, conservation, finance, and leadership staff, as well as key volunteers, organization-wide.
The Director establishes and provides oversight for comprehensive policies, procedures, and institutional guidelines for donor relations. They drive strategic dialogues with internal stakeholders and senior-level stakeholders, probing to identify key issues and requirements, negotiating and developing solutions, weighing investments relative to potential outcomes/impacts, and synthesizing a plan of action tailored to multiple audiences. The Director sets standards for the program, makes recommendations to maximize resources throughout the Conservancy, and guides priority high-level vendor relationships. They consult with programs, provide guidance, and initiate training programs for donor relations functions. They will serve as the sponsor for the enhancement of systems and tools used by the program. They direct relations with key stakeholders including executive and senior management, internal programs, and outside service providers to achieve strategic program goals. They are responsible for reporting on activities to executive leadership, including Board of Directors committees.
The Director advances these activities through management and leadership of a teams of communications, stewardship, and engagement staff. They will serve as a member of TNC’s Global Development Department Leads, which is the team responsible for providing vision, goals, and strategies to shape and drive an organization-wide culture of philanthropy to advance TNC’s mission.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 years related experience, including 5 years working at a senior level.
- Experience conceiving and managing strategic initiatives with broad impact.
- Experience conceiving, designing, and managing multiple projects and strategic goals.
- Experience developing policies, procedures, and practices for donor relations.
- Experience managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience working in a large, complex, not-for-profit environment.
- Management experience of a large multi-disciplinary department, including planning and delivering budgetary responsibilities.
SALARY INFORMATION
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $192,000 - $283,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
