About the Role
The Senior Legal Counsel, Regulatory role will advise the business on regulatory and legal matters relating to new and current jurisdictions where BetMGM operates. The position is responsible for monitoring and advising on statutory and regulatory interpretations as they relate to the business and ensuring that the Company’s online iGaming platform, online sportsbook and retail sportsbooks operations operate in compliance with all laws and regulations.
The Senior Legal Counsel, Regulatory, working under the direction and supervision of the Deputy General Counsel, will have specific responsibilities in the areas of regulatory and statutory interpretation and implementation for the Company’s products and operations; however, this position will be expected to operate independently and maintain accountability over their area of responsibility. This individual will be responsible for actively managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, while serving as a reliable and knowledgeable liaison for the Legal department. This role is based in Jersey City, New Jersey or can be done remotely. Applicants must be willing to work weekends and nights.
Responsibilities
- Provide sound and well-reasoned legal advice with respect to gaming regulatory matters in every jurisdiction where BetMGM operates or plans to operate.
- Effectively represent, and advocate on behalf of, BetMGM before state gaming regulators on all legal aspects of gaming regulatory matters including regulatory complaints and other communications, self-reports, investigations, and licensing.
- Provide legal support to the compliance team and collaborate to ensure timely responses to all regulator inquiries.
- Collaborate with outside gaming regulatory counsel.
- Collaborate with, support and advise management in a wide array of operating areas requiring gaming regulatory legal advice, including product, technology, sports betting and gaming operations, marketing, finance and human resources.
- Advise on federal laws, responsible gaming, advertising compliance, payment processing compliance, liquor law compliance and other regulatory matters.
- Assess applicable gaming and other laws and regulations for possible changes and reforms; collaborate with government affairs department on review of new legislation.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic and takes ownership of complex projects with minimal supervision while demonstrating sound judgment and superior decision-making, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills; meets prescribed deadlines.

- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Deputy General Counsel.
Essential Functions
- Must be able to stand or sit and operate computers and other technological devices for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor Degree required.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive responsibility and legal expertise in regulatory matters.
- Experience practicing law in a top-tier law firm and/or equivalent in-house experience.
- Must be able to stand or sit, and operate computers and other technological devices for extended periods of time.
- Experience practicing law in the gaming practice group of a law firm with expertise in gaming law and/or with a gaming regulatory authority.

Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus.
