At our Cincinnati headquarters, our State Government Relations team handles a wide range of issues that impact P&G locally, in U.S. states, and around the world. Your Role and Responsibilities: As a State Government Relations Manager, you will contribute to P&G’s success by:
Being the face of P&G to elected officials and their staff, educating them on P&G’s impact in their communities and states and how public policy decisions affect our business and our employees.
Understanding the legislative process and communicating clearly and effectively what’s happening and what it means for P&G to key internal business partners;
Representing P&G in local, state, and national trade associations and public policy groups;
Helping manage the P&G Good Government Fund, our Political Action Committee;
Supporting state and local government relations activities in our headquarters city.
You will need to work with P&G internal clients, including working independently with global business leaders, to identify legislative and policy opportunities for business growth.
You will also need to spot emerging issues and help develop relationships with key external parties in the state government, local government, trade associations, and public policy groups to advance and protect our business interests.
You will join a small but mighty team that is on the front lines of P&G’s engagement in the fast-paced world of state and local public policy.
This role will allow you to dive right in and provide immediate contributions to the success of one of America’s oldest publicly traded companies. Additionally, the State Government Relations Manager may be asked to help support the Director of State Government Relations and Community Relations as needed with tasks like meeting preparation and/or attendance.
This role will report to the Senior Manager of State Government Relations. Having a background in a specific issue area is less important than having a can-do attitude, intellectual curiosity, a willingness to take on any task and an eagerness to learn the company.
This role will require some overnight travel.
Requirements (skills / experiences) for the role:
You must have at least a four-year degree (BA).
You have at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
You can bring a working knowledge of state and local policy, politics, and process. This includes a meaningful network of contacts. Just so you know:
