The Connecticut Office of the State Comptroller is looking for a Communications Associate to work with a team to enhance media relations and advance the policy goals of the Agency including expanding access to health care, lowering the cost of prescription drugs and reimagining economic development strategies.

This is an appointed position within the Agency's Executive Office.

As a member of our team, you will:

  • Serve as the liaison with the media
  • Draft written communications including press releases, advisories and other matters as needed
  • Work with a team to develop and execute communications and public relations strategies to advance the policy goals of the Agency
  • Post to, and monitor, official social media accounts
  • Facilitate responses to Freedom of Information requests

We want to hear from you if you:  

  • Have two (2) to three (3) years of professional experience in government, politics or communications
  • Are comfortable interacting with local and national media
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Are committed to advancing the policy goals of the Agency
  • Keep up with trends in digital communications and social media
  • Thrive under pressure and can work effectively to meet tight deadlines
  • Have the ability to work in an office environment and remotely
  • Have experience with graphic design, photography, video editing, web design or content management

Compensation:

Located in Hartford, CT, this is a full-time position with a non-negotiable starting annual salary of $60,000.00.  This position is eligible for health, dental, pharmacy and retirement benefits.
