Job Description
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation seeks interested and qualified candidates for a rare opening in TBI’s Public Affairs Unit.
Working from our Cookeville or Chattanooga office, this position will be the primary point-of-contact for media and public relations in TBI’s East region, comprising 25 counties. This position will also champion internal communications for TBI employees across the region.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor’s degree, or higher, from an accredited institution.
At least three (3) years of relevant experience in journalism, public relations, law enforcement communications, or a related field.
The ideal candidate will have solid relationship-building and communication skills, along with the consistent ability to time manage, navigate complex and sensitive issues, triage a wide variety of tasks, and pivot at a moment’s notice to handle issues that arise at a moment’s notice. Frequent on-call duties are an expectation for this position.
Additionally, candidates should possess a sophisticated understanding of communications strategy, including social media, public speaking, video production, and emerging technologies. The successful candidate will also be a self-starter, eager to learn, and bring a passion for our unique role in Tennessee’s public safety system. PLEASE NOTE: Residency in the assigned region is an expectation for this position.
