Job Description
Senator Andy Kim is looking for a versatile, knowledgeable, and hardworking Digital Content Editor to join our team. A successful applicant has versatile graphic design, video editing, and social media skills with a focus on editing – animation and motion graphic experience is a plus. A strong applicant also has a strong eye for bringing clips, b-roll, still images, and other types of footage to life to tell compelling stories.
Location: Jersey City / Barrington, New Jersey
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Digital Director and entire Communications team to produce and edit original content including graphics and short-and-long-form videos for various digital platforms and audiences.
- Assist in the editing and production of multiple high-performing videos each week for Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and other digital platforms.
- Write scripts, review transcripts, and incorporate raw materials including still images, animations, text, and more to create engaging video projects.
- Establish effective ways to use footage from live streams, virtual meetings, press conferences, and events, as well as news coverage, to create high-performing videos.
- Cover and capture content, including photos, b-roll, and footage, for all statewide, public-facing events––including, but not limited to––town halls, meetings, visits, and press conferences.
- Assist in the management of press in New Jersey under the direction of the New Jersey Press Secretary and larger communications team.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality image and video content under tight deadlines, including in rapid response situations, with a keen attention to detail for accuracy, brand and message consistency.
Qualifications:
- High proficiency in video editing and graphic design, including experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop). Animation and motion graphics experience is a plus.
- 1-3 years experience editing videos for digital platforms. All types of experience accepted.
- Ability to quickly craft a compelling video using footage from a variety of sources.
- Strong script writing skills with the ability to translate complex ideas into compelling visuals and narratives.
- Deeply organized with the ability to prioritize multiple projects moving at different speeds.
- Exceptional tech, logistical, and troubleshooting skills.
- A deep understanding of social media platforms, emerging media spaces and ecosystems, trending topics, and effective content strategies.
- Availability for occasional weekend and evening work to support community events and outreach.
