The Yale Club of New York City is conveniently located in the heart of midtown Manhattan right across the street from Grand Central Station and a short walking distance from Port Authority in Times Square, which makes it a perfect location for commuters.
The Yale Club was formed in 1897 to maintain a clubhouse for the use and benefit of alumni from Yale University. The idea behind the Club was to promote the frequent meeting and continuation of fellowship and traditions. We are the only Yale Club with a physical building. Our grand 22-story building opened its doors in 1915 and has become a home away from home for thousands of Yale alumni over the past century and now welcomes 14,000 members and reciprocal members. We strive daily to make these experiences memorable.

Position Overview:
The Director of Membership & Communications reports directly to the General Manager/COO of the Club and oversees the membership and communications teams. The individual will manage all functions related to Membership Relations and all Club communications and will identify and execute initiatives to attract and retain members, develop marketing campaigns to drive member and guest usage of Club services. The director is also responsible for the overall communication strategy and accountable for all Club communications including newsletter, club website, social media, signage, email, and in-house collateral.
Essential Functions:
Develop and execute successful membership recruitment and retention strategies.
Develop and execute clear and meaningful communication plans.
Ensure that the Club achieves its strategic and financial goals through membership recruitment, retention, and the marketing of its services and offerings.
Develop and manage the annual budget, meeting membership revenue goals and managing expenses.
Partner with all departments to ensure a unified brand and voice for all communications across the organization.
Lead and develop the Membership & Communications team as well as support the Marketing and Membership Committee
Oversee Club communications to include Newsletter, Club Website, mobile app, social media, signage, email, and in-house collateral.
Coordinate with Marketing peers to share best practices, key insights, and competitive intelligence, and coordinate on overall talent management
Supervise the team to include recruiting, developing, and managing a team.
Help plan and prepare for prospective member and new member events.
Develop, execute, monitor, and analyze a social media strategy across all channels for the entire Club.
Track, measure, and analyze all initiatives to report on ROI.
Responsible for handling member inquiries and concerns quickly and effectively.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager and Chair of the Membership and Marketing Committee.
Core Attributes and Responsibilities:
Innovative: Possess unique and creative marketing ideas. Have an in-depth understanding of current communication and engagement trends, including any technology needed to support these initiatives. Must possess the confidence to explore innovative concepts.
Develop: Exhibit a broad knowledge and experience base and develop the existing team to the level of a high-performing department.
Delegate: In tandem with developing the team, the individual must be comfortable with delegating existing projects to focus on the next big idea.
Execute: Proven ability to create and deliver successful membership recruitment and retention campaigns resulting in significant increases.
Evaluate: The individual must have experience with budgets, financial reporting and demonstrate a complete understanding of the membership cycle.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline required
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in marketing and communication roles.
Minimum of five (5) managing high-performing teams
Previous hospitality, member association, or private club experience is preferred.
Knowledge of CRM systems
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
Business development experience desired
Salary: Commensurate of position.
