The Corporate Responsibility (CR) department is responsible for the development and implementation of the firm’s CR agenda and initiatives by crafting goals, policies and initiatives that align with the firm’s business strategies and operational objectives and support communities where we do business. CR includes Global Philanthropy (GP), Global Government Relations, Office of Nonprofit Engagement (ONE), Public Affairs, Sustainable Finance, and the JPMorgan Chase Institute.

Global Government Relations is seeking to fill the role of Associate located in its Washington, D.C. office. The position will be a key member of the Federal Government Relations team, reporting to the Head of Federal Government Relations (FGR). The ideal candidate will leverage her/his experience, skills and knowledge of the financial services industry to effectively drive, coordinate and communicate daily and long-term objectives for senior managers, colleagues across CR, and other partners at the firm and will be responsible for a variety of critical areas related to GR’s management, operations and overall strategy. S/he will manage a portfolio of issue areas and have responsibility for managing key external relationships and provide support and leadership on department-wide initiatives. The Associate will also be responsible for the execution of special internal- and external-facing projects, as assigned by the Head of FGR.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the timely preparation and delivery of briefing materials and remarks for meetings and events for senior executives, coordinating with the FGR team, as well as the different CR divisions and Lines of Business as needed. Work with the Head of FGR and the Chief of Staff to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of written materials.

Manage a portfolio of financial services industry issues, including pro-actively identifying and heading off potential problem areas, tracking legislation, monitoring hearings and facilitating meetings to ensure up-to-date expertise on key topics of importance to the firm.

Represent JPMorgan Chase with federal officials in assigned states and issue areas; coordinate opportunities to engage government officials in dialogue about JPMC initiatives.

Manage and support management of external relationships trade associations and other third parties as assigned by the Head of FGR.

Track significant initiatives and projects across the department and the firm. Provide project management and coordination assistance to project teams and monitor progress on an ongoing basis to ensure appropriate briefing intervals for the GR senior team and Head of GR and successful project completion.

Work with the Head of FGR and Chief of Staff to plan GR meetings, including weekly, quarterly, and annual meetings. This includes setting agendas, identifying and inviting speakers, prepping speakers and panels, putting together briefing materials, and ensuring timely follow up on items.

Work proactively to maintain a “big picture” view of FGR and the CR Department and firm to identify opportunities for improved collaboration and coordination within and outside of the Department.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree Required

5-7+ years of relevant work experience, preferably including policy and/or government experience

Demonstrated understanding of financial service and business issues

Demonstrated understanding of federal political and legislative processes

Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills; sound judgment and strong collaborative decision-making skills

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and strong ability to articulate concepts and strategies effectively

Strong organizational skills and project management experience

Experience presenting to and communicating with senior management

Excellent relationship-building skills

High attention to detail; follows through to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness

Positive self-starter with proactive approach, excellent time management and prioritization skills

Mastery of core Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
