POSITION SUMMARY:
uAspire is seeking a Senior Manager of Institutional Giving to promote uAspire’s financial sustainability and ensure it is well positioned within the postsecondary education/college access and attainment philanthropic community. The Senior Manager is a strong relationship builder/steward, communicator, and collaborator who will be responsible for maintaining and growing a portfolio of institutional supporters and building key resources for the entire Advancement team.
This position requires a highly organized, result-oriented, and motivated individual who excels at both written communications and project management. They will possess the strong interpersonal and communication skills required to collaborate effectively with internal uAspire stakeholders as well as external supporters. They will derive satisfaction from working in both collaborative, team-based environments as well as devoting significant time to independent efforts. They will be flexible and nimble in their work and thrive in situations in which they are managing multiple projects.
The Senior Manager of Institutional Giving both manages a portfolio of foundation and corporate funders across key geographies and serves as a key leader in institutional giving across the Advancement team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grant Management
- Lead grant process from initial outreach/stewardship through creation of all deliverables. Write grant applications, reports, and other materials for new and existing supporters.
- Liaise with internal teams to provide accurate information to external stakeholders regarding the organization’s finances, programming, etc.
- Facilitate conversations with Impact area leads to align around goals and outcomes.
- Manage a calendar of grant deliverables to ensure that all deadlines are met.
- Communicate grant requirements to appropriate internal teams and remain informed about progress to ensure uAspire is meeting funder expectations.
- Conduct prospect research to identify potential new supporters
Donor Engagement and Stewardship
- Build and steward relationships with program officers and other Corporate/Foundation staff and trustees.
- Ensure appropriate recognition for all Institutional donors.
- Prepare the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), CEO, and other leadership to engage with Institutional donors, when needed.
Support for Institutional Giving across the Advancement Team
- Develop templates and maintain a repository of content for other fundraisers
- Support other grant-writing staff as needed
- Support monthly fundraiser meetings to discuss challenges, learnings and align on fundraising goals and activities
Contribute to the continued development of uAspire’s organizational culture and values
- Demonstrate the leadership and skills necessary to build upon uAspire’s strong organizational culture.

- Promote and personally model behaviors of honesty, truth, respect, and fairness in interpersonal relations.
- Collaborate with the Talent team to implement organizational wide values and culture initiatives and where necessary adapts those to fit the local team dynamics and needs.

- Support and participate in network-wide initiatives with the national office and with regional leaders, modeling, and sharing best practices and learning.
- Establish strong collaborative relationships with the staff across the uAspire network.

Education, Experience & Skills:
- Minimum three-five years of nonprofit development, marketing, or similar experience.
- Excellent writing and communication skills required. Experience with grant writing a plus.
- Strong project management skills, including priority setting, time management, cross-functional collaboration, and ability to respond flexibly to changing circumstances.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high quality work and strict adherence to deadlines.
- Able to develop creative solutions and engage in innovative thinking in order to see an issue or opportunity in new ways.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other databases a plus.
- Passion for our mission of ensuring all young people have the opportunity to pursue and afford a post-secondary education.

- Knowledge about postsecondary/college access, persistence, and/or affordability is a plus.
- Understanding of their own identity and the ways in which this could impact power dynamics and relationships with staff, funders and board members. Demonstrate strategic thinking and visioning; is able to keep the big and longer-range picture in mind when formulating plans, making decisions and taking action.
ANTICIPATED START DATE: December 4, 2023
COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position is $75,800-81,100. Salary commensurate with experience and education.
STATUS: Exempt, full time
CLASSIFICATION: This position is fully remote. Due to contractual obligations, candidates must be based in the contiguous United States.
