About The Greene School
The Greene School (TGS) is a public charter high school located in West Greenwich, Rhode Island, serving approximately 200 students in grades 9–12. Our students come from the entire state of RI - including urban, rural and suburban areas. We are rooted in EL Education (Expeditionary Learning model) and grounded in a commitment to environmental education, student agency, and authentic learning experiences for students from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
TGS has recently received state approval to expand to a 6–12 configuration, adding a middle school program that will deepen our continuum of learning and strengthen our community. This is an exciting moment in our school's history and an equally exciting time to join our community.
Position Overview
We are seeking a warm, organized, and proactive Administrative Assistant to serve as the face of our front office and provide operational support to our Director of Business. This is a high-visibility role at the heart of our school community — the person in this role is often the first point of contact for students, families, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, genuine care for people, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving school environment.
Front Office Responsibilities
-Greet and assist students, families, visitors, and substitute teachers with professionalism and warmth
-Manage main office communications, including phones, email, and student attendance records
-Support student check-in/check-out procedures and maintain accurate daily attendance logs
-Respond to inquiries from students, parents, and staff, facilitating communication among parties and providing clear direction
-Assist in planning and scheduling school events and activities, including orientation, open house, field trips, assemblies, and conferences; maintain the school calendar
-Prepare, copy, and distribute notices, correspondence, and other communications to keep staff and families informed
-Oversee and manage building access during and after school hours
-Coordinate mail, deliveries, and general office supply management
-Maintain organized documents, files, and records to ensure up-to-date reference and compliance audit trails
-Provide administrative support to school leadership as needed
Business Operations Support
-Assist the Director of Business & Operations with data entry, record-keeping, and document management
-Process invoices, purchase orders, and related work as directed
-Support enrollment, registration, and student records functions
-Help coordinate logistics for school events and staff activities

Qualifications
High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
Prior experience in a school, nonprofit, or office setting strongly preferred
Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Student Information Systems a plus
Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills and a student-centered mindset
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Ability to problem-solve calmly in a busy environment
Strong organizational and time management skills
