Job Description
Founded in 1842, the New York Philharmonic is the oldest symphony orchestra in the United States, and one of the oldest in the world. Each season the Philharmonic connects with up to 50 million music lovers through live concerts in New York City and on its worldwide tours and residencies. David Geffen Hall, the home of the Philharmonic, is currently under renovation and the orchestra is performing in several different venues this season. The new hall will re‐open to the public in the fall of 2022 with state‐of‐the art acoustics and more inviting spaces.
The New York Philharmonic seeks a Manager, Artistic Planning and Administration who works closely with the Artistic Planning Department and reports to the Director of Artistic Planning and Administration. This candidate will support the Artistic Planning Department’s daily activity.
Responsibilities include:
· Manage AP department seasonal budget in conjunction with the Finance Department
· Manage planning database and communications around season updates
· Generate and execute artist and commission contracts for subscription and non-subscription events
· Identify and engage cover conductors for subscription and non-subscription events
· Generate artist schedule for various series and oversee travel logistics (transportation, hotel, etc.)
· Issue and track payments and reimbursements to artists, composers, cover conductors
· Prepare board reports
· Lead project manager on various non-subscription projects
· Identify, propose, manage dates for galas, education events, etc.
· Manage PR contact sheet for pre-season announcement as well as contact sheets per project
· Assist with artist servicing for non-subscription engagements and composers
· Ensures accurate information for programs, marketing, and online
· Perform Concert Duty

Requirements:
A minimum of five years’ experience working in a performing arts, artist management, or concert production environment, with preference to experience with an orchestra; strong knowledge of classical music; excellent computer (MS Office and ability to work with ArtsVision or other customized software applications) and organizational skills; detail oriented with a keen sense of foresight in planning projects and events; financial fluency and substantial experience with budgets. The candidate will be able to work effectively with a wide variety of people and can multi‐task and prioritize in a fast‐paced environment and have outstanding communications skills.
