Operation Healing Forces (OHF) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to help lead its dynamic Development team as the Assistant Director of Development. The OHF Mission: 

The mission of Operation Healing Forces (OHF) is to serve the needs of America’s wounded, ill, injured, and fallen Special Operations Forces service members, veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors through a suite of programs that promote long-term mental, physical, emotional, and fiscal well-being.

The Opportunity: 

OHF is seeking a highly motivated, purpose-driven professional with a proven track record in the nonprofit development space to serve as its Assistant Director of Development. The successful candidate will advance the planning, organizing, and directing of OHF’s fundraising and external relations efforts including: the major gifts program, planned giving, special events, corporate and foundation donor relations, grant writing, prospect research, capital campaigns, and marketing. The Assistant Development Director reports to the Director of Development and Executive Director and will collaborate with the development team, OHF staff, and from time to time the Board of Directors & the National Advisory Council. 


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 


  • Develop, plan, and implement comprehensive short- and long-term strategies for development efforts to manage the stewardship of donor relationships during all phases of the giving cycle.
  • Assist with the direction and oversight of the Corporate and Foundation Relationships team efforts to research and write proposals for federal, state, foundation, and corporate grants, as well as develop sponsorships tailored to support OHF’s mission while providing benefit to its partners.
  • Assist with the direction and oversight of the Campaigns and Events team efforts to elevate awareness and support of OHF’s mission, programs, and needs of those served through special events, social media, marketing, and compelling campaigns.
  • Develop and implement fundraising goals, strategies, and activities to achieve revenue goals.
  • Assist in the development of the annual revenue budget and monthly revenue and expense tracking.
  • Analyze and report on internal and external trends regarding individual, corporate, foundation, and government funding.
  • Lead meetings with prospective partners, donors, and stakeholders.
  • Cultivate, secure, and manage key relationships with funders; build and maintain community relationships, and attend community events when and where appropriate.
  • Oversee accountability and performance of deliverables, grant tracking, and reporting to partners.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and comprehensive monitoring and reporting of contributions, income, and expenses.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned by the Director of Development and/or Executive Director.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Our ideal candidate will have: 

  • BA / BS degree in a related field; however related and impactful experience may substitute for a degree.
  • A minimum of 5-years of progressive fundraising experience and demonstrated success raising funds for growing nonprofit organizations. Demonstrated experience in grant and individual giving research, cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Experience with or knowledge of special operations forces military culture and customs. 
  • Ability to travel. 
  • Exceptional program management and strategic communications skills.
  • Ability to make decisions independently combined with an ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and effective time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Applications, Virtuous, and virtual conferencing platforms.
