Job Description
The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (Committee) is a nonpartisan, non-profit organization committed to educating the public about issues with significant fiscal policy impact. Our bipartisan leadership comprises some of the nation's leading budget experts, including many past heads of the House and Senate Budget Committees, the Congressional Budget Office, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Government Accountability Office.
The Assistant Director of Events and Engagement will plan and execute events and engagement activities under the direction of the Vice President of Development and Events. These events will include organization-wide signature events, off-site retreats, single-day policy conferences, large receptions, briefings, and salon dinners. They will be responsible for outside-the-beltway engagement opportunities with business groups, community organizations, universities and individual stakeholders, and will organize speaking events for Committee staff. This person will also plan all webinars and virtual events.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Organize all signature events, which include single-day policy conferences, large receptions including Members of Congress, and large policy dinners
- Plan other events including off-site retreats, briefings, smaller policy dinners, conference calls, and webinars
- Coordinate outside-the-beltway engagement opportunities with business groups, community organizations, and universities
- Oversee a nationwide engagement roadshow of events with multiple principals
- Work with high-level individuals in states to engage them on key issues in support of organizational priorities
- Book committee staff for speaking engagements at conferences, fly-ins, and other significant gatherings, including fielding incoming requests from outside groups
- Manage engagement with the Committee’s interactive tools
- Execute with a high level of professionalism and attention to detail that ensures an excellent audience experience
- Create timelines to project-manage all aspects of events and engagements throughout the year
- Collaborate with the communications team to write copy for event landing pages, email invitations, and follow-up
- Maintain records of attendance and stakeholder interactions within the organization's database
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- 5 to 7 years of experience, including planning events ranging from large galas to small salon dinners
- Clear vision of what makes events successful and how to achieve that vision
- Ability to execute high-level events
- Strong project management skills with a proven ability to achieve results and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines
- Be able to work independently and keep multiple events and engagement activities moving forward at the same time
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Experience working with principals and senior staff on event planning and execution
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- A bachelor’s degree or higher
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 – Constant Contact experience is a plus

Salary: $80,000 to $95,000, contingent upon the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate, with generous benefits package including health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance; 403(b) contribution; and paid time off.
