Summary

These positions are located in the Executive Office of the President (EOP), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA). The Associate Deputy Administrators serve as members of the OIRA senior leadership team and oversee branches responsible for regulatory review and coordination of information collection across assigned subject areas.

The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) is the central authority for the review of Executive Branch regulations, approval of Government information collections, establishment of Government statistical practices, and coordination of Federal privacy policy. OIRA staff provide expert analysis and coordination in these areas to develop OMB-wide policies and positions. The Associate Deputy Administrators will report to the Deputy Administrator for OIRA. The responsibilities of each Associate Deputy Administrator are wide ranging and diverse, and are divided among the following areas overseen by OIRA.


One of the Associates will be primarily responsible for statistical and privacy policy, as well as regulatory and information policies in the areas of treasury and financial markets, trade and product markets, communications, commerce, housing, transportation, defense/international affairs, homeland security, and related areas. The other Associate will be primarily responsible for regulatory and information policies in the areas of food, agriculture, health, product safety, energy, environment, education, labor, and related areas. In addition, this Associate will also manage a "systems" team charged with coordinating cross-OIRA functions and responsibilities.


As an Associate Deputy Administrator for the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, your typical work assignments may include the following:


Managing senior executives and their teams of professional analysts to coordinate the smooth flow of regulatory and information policy across the organization.

Advising the Deputy Administrator and OIRA and OMB leadership in assigned subject areas to identify policy issues and develop recommendations, and to implement Administration regulatory priorities and reforms.

Overseeing cross-OIRA responsibilities and engagements with OMB Resource Management Offices (RMOs) and other parts of OMB to coordinate deregulatory initiatives with agencies, align policy decisions with budgetary and management principles, and lead legislative reviews and reforms.
