Working closely with our North Carolina team and colleagues in Japan, this person will build trust and sustain long-term support.
Responsibilities
- Identify and build relationships with major and principal gift prospects, family foundations, philanthropic advisers, and potential institutional partners.
- Initiate thoughtful outreach that introduces NGP's work, explores shared interests, and creates opportunities for ongoing engagement.
- Manage an assigned portfolio through identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; personally secure significant gifts and multiyear commitments.
- Develop tailored partnership proposals, grant applications, donor briefings, and stewardship reports with strategy, program, and finance colleagues.
- Arrange small cultivation events, introductions, and leadership meetings; prepare senior leaders and ensure timely follow-up.
- Develop partnership plans that clarify mutual objectives, responsibilities, timelines, and opportunities for financial or other mission-aligned support.
- Track relationships, next steps, commitments, and revenue forecasts in the CRM; coordinate outreach with colleagues to strengthen fundraising teamwork.
- Represent NGP with professionalism and cultural sensitivity, traveling nationally and internationally for meetings, events, and organizational activities.
Required qualifications
- A strong commitment to reforming the United Nations to promote global peace and alleviate suffering caused by war and conflict.
- A minimum of five years of relevant fundraising or partnership development experience.
- Demonstrated success personally cultivating, soliciting, and securing substantial philanthropic gifts or funded partnerships; ability to explain your personal role in those results.
- Ability to initiate new relationships, listen carefully, find shared interests, and maintain trust over time.
- Excellent proposal-writing, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Comfort working with global leaders, major donors, foundation representatives, and senior executives; integrity, discretion, cultural sensitivity, and reliable follow-through.
- Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in the Durham-Chapel Hill area and undertake required national and international travel.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred qualifications
- Success securing seven-figure gifts or substantial multiyear commitments.
- Success securing six-figure gifts; experience with relationship-based fundraising, philanthropic advisers, and small donor cultivation events.
