Chris Oates for State Rep Campaign
Somerville, MA

Job Description

Chris Oates is running for State Representative to bring urgency, honesty, and serious policy work to Beacon Hill. We’re looking for Campaign Fellows: high school and college students and recent grads who want hands-on experience in local politics.

No campaign experience is required. We’re looking for people who are reliable, excited to learn, and willing to talk to voters.

What fellows will do

Depending on your interests, fellows may help with:

• Door knocking in Somerville and Medford

• Phone banking and texting voters

• Organizing campaign events

• Recruiting volunteers

• Creating social media content

• Filming short videos

• Drafting newsletter, blog, or email content

• Helping with research and campaign operations

What you’ll learn

Fellows will get real experience in grassroots organizing, voter contact, event planning, communications, social media, and Massachusetts state politics. They will also be part of a scenario planning project to forecast what the state will look like in 2040.

Time commitment

We are flexible around school, work, and other commitments. Ideally, fellows will commit to at least two two-hour shifts per week, with evening and weekend options available. Positions are unpaid.

How to apply
