Job Description
Congresswoman Sarah McBride (DE-AL) is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and
collaborative Communications Aide to join her Washington, DC office. The
Communications Aide will primarily manage the office’s constituent mail program while
assisting with digital content creation and social media production. The Communications
Aide will report directly to the DC-based Communications Director.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong writing, video, and photo editing
skills and a creative problem-solver capable of producing high-quality work in a fast-
paced environment. A positive attitude, strong attention to detail, the ability to thrive in a
collaborative team environment, and a good sense of humor are essential. Previous
legislative or communications experience is a plus.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
● Executing a robust correspondence program to quickly address constituent
requests, concerns, and questions across a range of issues;
● Creating and maintaining a collection of prepared responses for non-casework
constituent inquiries, including collaborating with the legislative, outreach, and
casework departments to ensure responsive letters are up-to-date;
● Producing high-quality videos and graphics using editing software;
● Drafting Franked Communications, working with the Communications Standards
Commission on approval of documents, and sending communications to
constituents in mass mailings;
● Assisting with producing social media content, the weekly newsletter, and other
materials;
● Capturing content of the Member in Washington, DC, including events and
meetings with constituents;
● Staffing the member, including driving, at on- and off-site events; and
● Other special projects as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:
● Excellent writing and verbal communication skills;
● A strong commitment to responding to Delawareans in a timely and thoughtful
manner;
●A demonstrated passion for public service;
● Video production and editing skills;
● Familiarity with social media best practices and emerging trends;
● Willingness and ability to work non-traditional hours when required;
● A licensed driver with a clean driving record; and
● Eagerness to learn, grow, and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The salary for this position is $55,000 annually with additional benefits like health care,
retirement match, 20 days of PTO, 10 days of paid sick leave, and 12 weeks of paid
family and medical leave.
