About the Campaign:


Senator Ed Markey is a proven progressive leader with a deep record of delivering for Massachusetts—from championing climate action and reproductive freedom to taking on corporate special interests. As he seeks re-election in 2026, the campaign is building a dynamic, grassroots-driven operation to meet the moment—and we’re looking for a communications leader to help tell that story.



Role Overview:


Reporting to the Campaign Manager, you’ll lead the communications team to define and shape campaign narratives, manage media relations, and oversee content strategy across policy areas and platforms.



Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Communications Planning: Develop and execute integrated communications plans aligned with campaign goals.

Media Relations: Serve as principal spokesperson, cultivate press relationships, and manage earned media outreach.

Message Development: Write speeches, op-eds, talking points, media pitches, and crisis messaging.

Digital & Social Media: Help oversee digital communications—coordinate with digital/digital media teams, ensure unified tone and content across channels.

Rapid Response: Monitor media and opposition narratives, generate timely responses and counter-messaging.

Event Support: Provide communications support for campaign events—advance media logistics, briefing materials, speeches.

Data-Driven Media Planning: Use polling and research to refine messaging and target outreach.



Requirements

Qualifications:


5+ years in political communications or campaign work; Statewide campaign or Senate-level experience ideal.

Based in Massachusetts or willing to relocate.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Strongly developed political analysis and ability to assess and prepare the Senator for key speeches or interviews.

Proven media management and high-pressure handling.

Commitment to progressive values and mission of the campaign.
