Job Description
The Bank Information Center (BIC) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Washington, DC that advocates for transparency, accountability, sustainability, and inclusion in development finance. We partner with civil society in developing and transition countries to monitor and influence the policies and operations of the World Bank Group and other Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs). In partnership with international, regional, and local civil society organizations (CSOs), BIC conducts research and advocacy aimed at reforming and improving MDB policy and practice. BIC is a wholly independent civil society organization, not part of any MDB and does not receive funding from any MDB or government.
BIC is seeking an organized, committed communications, research and administrative assistant to support BIC’s work across all our programs. This is an entry level position that will be divided approximately 50% writing and communication support, 30% research support, and 20% administrative support. This is an entry level position based in Washington, D.C. and will report to the Communications Coordinator. The position is hybrid with approximately three days in office and two days working from home.
Primary Responsibilities
Support BIC’s Communications Work:
- Provide drafting support for reports, briefs and web updates;
- Manage BIC's website updates and quarterly newsletter;
- Support BIC’s social media engagement.
Provide Research support:
- Carry out research on issues related to multilateral development finance;
- Review project and policy related documents put out by the World Bank and other MDBs and produce documents summarizing key information;
- Read relevant reports put out by partner organizations.
Provide Administrative Support:
- Arrange meetings for BIC staff and provide logistical support for BIC events and meetings including zoom support for virtual meetings;
- Take notes in internal BIC meetings as well as meetings with partners and other stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Detail oriented with exceptional organizational capabilities
- Outstanding written communication skills
- Good understanding of social media
- Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize work, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Interest in working on issues related to MDBs. No experience with, or knowledge of, MDB related issues is required
- Enthusiasm and dedication to BIC’s mission
- Spanish language skills strongly preferred
Compensation and Benefits
Salary between $45,000-$55,000 USD per year depending on qualifications. BIC also provides fully paid health insurance, generous leave, flexible working hours and other benefits. This is a hybrid position, working from home approximately 2 days per week and in office 3 days per week. Position is based in Washington, DC with no possibility of long term remote work.
