Community Engagement and Development Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION

FLSA STATUS: Exempt / Full-Time

Brief Summary: The Community Engagement & Development Coordinator supports outreach, education, and engagement efforts to increase community awareness of domestic violence services and improve access to support for survivors. This role also supports development activities by helping strengthen communication, storytelling, and community relationships that contribute to organizational sustainability.

LOCATION: Garland & Plano Offices | Hybrid with in-person community engagement

SCHEDULE: Flexible scheduling, to include regular business hours, as well as some evenings and weekends as needed. Hope's Door New Beginning Center (HDNBC) is a non-profit agency providing a continuum of care for individuals who are victims of domestic abuse. Major Responsibilities:

Community Outreach and Education

  • Support community education and outreach efforts focused on domestic violence awareness, service availability, and pathways to accessing support
  • Foster and maintain relationships within the community, focusing primarily on HDNBC's service area of Collin County and Northeastern Dallas County, including community partners, allied organizations, and supporters
  • Assist with community engagement efforts, including relationship-building and participation in outreach initiatives and events
  • Support fundraising events and community-based initiatives as part of broader community engagement efforts
  • Help track outreach and engagement activities and maintain organized records of community interactions and communication

Communications and Storytelling

  • Collaborate with program staff to translate community education and service impact into accessible, community-facing messaging
  • Assist in developing content for social media, newsletters, and outreach materials that reflect program work
  • Ensure messaging is accurate, trauma-informed, and aligned with organizational voice

Project and Activity Coordination

  • Provide logistical and coordination support for outreach, education, and engagement initiatives led by program teams
  • Track outreach activities, participation, and outcomes for reporting and evaluation purposes
  • Maintain organized systems to support cross-team collaboration and follow-through

Qualifications and Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, communications, marketing, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered; candidates with 5+ years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree
  • 2–5 years of experience in community outreach, engagement, communications, development, or a related field
  • Strong communication and relationship-building
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and navigate sensitive topics with a trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation required.

  • Ability to work independently, set goals and accomplish with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality and agency confidentiality.
  • Ability to follow proper safety protocols and agency policies to ensure safety and well-being of the adult/child(ren) clients.
  • Physical Requirements: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs.).

Working Conditions:

  • Work must be performed in the agency office and/or via Telework options as necessary.
