Job Summary:


The Office of Community Engagement (OCE) in the Executive Office of the Governor (EOG) mobilizes support for the Governor’s agenda by building and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to local government officials, civic and community groups, local businesses, economic development organizations, and more. The team identifies emerging issues and opportunities, facilitates solutions, delivers key messages, amplifies successes, and more.


This position works closely with the Director of OCE as well as other EOG divisions, performing a variety of stakeholder engagement tasks with a focus on Genesee County, Saginaw County, and the Great Lakes Bay Area of Michigan, in addition to regional activities, the position engages in statewide activities as directed. The type of work can vary considerably depending on need. The work is demanding, but often flexible.


Job Responsibilities:


• Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders.


• Serve as EOG day-to-day primary contact for region of responsibility.


• Identify and understand emerging regional issues and opportunities.


• Understand and anticipate potential stakeholder reactions to policy ideas and proposals.


• Deliver key messages to stakeholders.


• Help identify, plan, and execute opportunities to amplify the Administration’s successes and priorities.


• Act as a surrogate for the Governor at events and meetings, as requested by stakeholders.


Preferred Candidate Qualifications:


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


• Strong public speaking skills.


• Strong professional record with ties to the region.


• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing an outreach and engagement strategy.


• Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize multiple projects independently and with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy.


• Proven ability to collaborate across multiple teams to accomplish shared goals.
