Here's a Summary Of Responsibilities

The Coordinator of Development Impact & Communications supports the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Foundation (USOPF) by crafting and refining communications that enhance the foundation’s fundraising efforts. The coordinator writes and revises content for various donor materials, including collateral, impact reports, acknowledgment letters, pledge reminders, programmatic copy and more. Additional responsibilities include handling copy editing requests from fundraising staff. This role is an integral part of the Development Impact & Communications team and reports to the Manager of Development Impact & Communications.

Here’s How You’ll Have An Impact

Donor Communications (40%)

  • Serve as the communications point of contact for the Team USA Fund and mid-major giving programs, providing guidance to agency partners in messaging and cadence of mass fundraising appeals.
  • Field copy editing and writing requests from staff in the major, principal and campaign programs, ensuring all content aligns with brand standards and AP Style.
  • Support communication efforts related to donor funds and circles, including regular newsletters, email correspondence and event outreach.
  • Develop a communication plan for the Olympic & Paralympic Games for the mid-major community, incorporating materials such as viewing guides, schedules, impact stories and daily updates for donor engagement during the Games.
  • Support the creation of meaningful collateral with an aim to articulate the impact philanthropy has on Team USA.
  • Develop communications for the USOPF’s domestic Games hospitality experience, producing materials such as viewing guides, schedules, impact stories and daily updates for donor engagement during the Games.
  • Develop curated communication touchpoints for donor communities, utilizing a variety of media including electronic outreach, print, video and more. Understand donor interests to maximize curated content.

Engagement Collaboration (40%)

  • In partnership with the Donor Engagement team, lead all event communication efforts, ensuring talking points and external messaging align with the event's specific goals, style, and tone. Collaborating with event stakeholders, lead the development and execution of event communications such as speaking points, athlete biographies, invitations and email communications.
  • Collaborate with Manager, Development Impact & Communications to fulfill external communications calendar deliverables, including monthly newsletters, Olympic & Paralympic Games content, reports and other touchpoints.
  • Support and refine presentation decks designed for the donor community, including the foundation’s annual meeting, Board meetings, and other important donor engagement opportunities.

Internal Communications (20%)

  • In collaboration with the Director and Manager, Development Impact & Communications maintain a repository of information on current events to assist frontline fundraisers in shaping conversations on current events.
  • Utilizing content from USOPC Communications and media monitoring, compile regular news clips for distribution among internal staff with a focus on current events and philanthropy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 1-2 years of communications experience
  • Nonprofit experience preferred
  • Experience in project coordination of various sizes and scope
  • Strong background in composing effective written communications and copy editing for a variety of stakeholders
  • Event communications or reporting experience a plus
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an emphasis on copy writing and editing
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AP Style
  • Ability to produce quality, error-free materials that are consistent with organizational and divisional expectations
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility and the initiative to achieve excellence
  • Creative, energetic self-starter who works well under pressure
  • Experience in CRM systems; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; experience with Meltwater, Cision and Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a plus
  • Ability to prioritize projects and recommend solutions under multiple deadlines
  • Professionalism, discretion and confidentiality in matters of staff/donor privacy
  • Knowledge of computer software such as Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
  • Appreciation for the Olympic and Paralympic movements and the power of sport

Here's Some More Information You Need To Know

  • Hiring pay range $22.65 - $25.00
  • This Full-Time, Non-Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
  • Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 5% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
