EDF’s Healthy Communities impact area is committed to improving the public’s health by dramatically reducing exposures to and health impacts of toxic chemicals and air pollution among communities and individuals that bear the greatest burden of exposure and/or health risk. By advancing scientific insights, policies, and market-based leadership and working with diverse partners and collaborators from companies, researchers, and community-based groups to government agencies and elected officials, we seek to make evident inequities in chemical- and pollution-related health impacts, and to develop, support and implement solutions that promote healthy communities and individuals.
Overall Function
The Healthy Communities Coordinator will provide key programmatic, administrative, and communications support to EDF’s Healthy Communities Program. The Coordinator will work on programmatic and administrative tasks, such as invoicing/contracts management and meeting/event planning, in addition to providing key communications support. The Coordinator will report to the Project Manager, Healthy Communities and work closely in a team environment with other Healthy Communities staff. This is an excellent opportunity to develop core organizational and communications skills and provide vital support to advance environmental health and public health goals.
Key Responsibilties
- Process and track expense reports, invoices, contracts, and grant agreements, and manage new vendor set ups with Project Managers and Finance staff
- Schedule and manage logistics for program retreats, workshops, project meetings, webinars, conference calls, and other events, including reserving meeting spaces, arranging catering, travel and hotel accommodations for meeting participants, and other tasks as needed
- Provide support to the Safer Chemicals Communications Manager, including tracking news articles, developing editorial calendars, maintaining reporter lists and communications, and supporting the drafting of press releases, social media, newsletters, blogs, and other external communications
- Lead, coordinate, and organize the logistics to develop content for multi-channel media promotion between Safer Chemicals Communications and MarComm creators
- Research, organize, and disseminate relevant news clips, articles, and media to the teams based on topic
- Attend internal and external meetings and document and track key takeaways, next steps, and resource or research needs
- Manage the onboarding process for new Healthy Communities staff, working closely with project managers and project teams
- Maintain and update internal operations documents in line with Global Clean Air and Safer Chemicals project strategies
- Maintain and update file libraries/archives including proactively managing and improving Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint, and the project management software
- Track, manage and streamline subscriptions and dues
- Participate in advancing EDF Diversity, Equity & Inclusion goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values
- Additional relevant responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent in a relevant field with at least 3 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. A bachelor's degree or equivalent may substitute for up to 2 years of relevant experience
- Excellent organizational and administrative abilities and meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Ability to work independently and with diverse colleagues and partners, and to prioritize and handle diverse, simultaneous tasks under pressure;
- Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Highly proficient in the use of PCs and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Interest in environmental or public health advocacy is a plus

Pay range
$57,000 - $64,000 USD/Yr.
