About the Position
This is a locally engaged staff position at an overseas Australian Diplomatic Mission.
This is a 2-year term of employment with the possibility of renewal.
As a member of the Strategic Affairs team, the Strategic Affairs Officer works under the direction of the Strategic Communications Manager to assist in delivering the Public Diplomacy Strategy of Permanent Mission of Australia to the United Nations (UN) through communications, media and public affairs activities. The role is primarily responsible for social media and communications activities and also assists with events to build maintain and enhance public and stakeholder perception of Australia’s brand and reputation within the United Nations and the Mission’s jurisdiction.

Additional Information
This position is a designated security assessed position. Applicants must be an Australian, American, British, Canadian, or New Zealand citizen to be eligible for engagement. Employment in the advertised position is dependent on the employee having or acquiring a valid DFAT recognised security clearance. Security clearances can take several months to process, and employment cannot be commenced until an appropriate clearance is confirmed. There is no guarantee that the successful candidate for the position will be successful in obtaining a clearance. The inability to obtain a clearance prevents that applicant from being employed and loss of a security clearance at any time will lead to termination of employment.
