🌍 Deputy Director – Confidential International Research Organization

📍Washington, DC ( onsite 5 days/ week) ( may have hybrid flex after training)

About the Role

A globally focused nonprofit research organization is seeking a Deputy Director to support its mission of monitoring, translating, and analyzing international media across multiple regions and languages. This role is ideal for a highly adaptable, strategic professional who excels in relationship‑building, cross‑functional collaboration, and handling sensitive information with discretion. As a key member of the leadership team, the Deputy Director will help steer organizational priorities, strengthen external partnerships, and support executive‑level operations.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

1️⃣ Fundraising & Development Leadership 🤝💼

  • Represent the organization at donor meetings, briefings, conferences, and high‑level events.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with current donors while identifying new funding opportunities.
  • Support the creation of proposals, impact reports, and donor communications.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for the organization’s mission and research initiatives.

2️⃣ Government & Institutional Relations 🏛️📑

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with government clients and institutional partners.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities for contracting and client acquisition.
  • Handle and safeguard sensitive government materials with the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of reports, analysis, and contractual deliverables.
  • Assist in shaping strategy to expand the organization’s presence within government sectors.

3️⃣ Executive & Organizational Support 🧭📋

  • Serve as a key operational partner to the Executive Director, supporting day‑to‑day leadership activities.
  • Help streamline workflows across departments including research, operations, development, and communications.
  • Oversee preparation and distribution of reports, briefings, and essential communications.
  • Assist with media‑related responsibilities and facilitate distribution of research outputs.
  • Step in as needed for special projects, urgent requests, and cross‑organizational priorities.
