Profile

The California Donor Table (CDT) seeks a strategic, movement-oriented Deputy Director of Campaigns. CDT organizes and mobilizes donors to fund building electoral power that sustains progressive governing power to achieve a just and equitable California. This role is designed for a seasoned political professional who can bridge the gap between electoral campaigns, legislative advocacy, and community-led power building and wielding by centering the lead of aligned organizations and leaders.


Key Responsibilities

The Deputy Director of Campaigns will be responsible for the following major areas of work:

  • External Programs and Campaigns - Support and Assist the Political Director with all external facing campaigns
  • Infrastructure Development - Assist the Political Director scaling regional tables and supporting CDT grantees.
  • Strategic Leadership - Providing political intelligence to executive staff.


Specific Duties:


I. External Programs and Campaigns (60%)

  • External Campaigns: Assist the Political Director with gathering necessary metrics, documents, and analysis to ensure successful outcomes for all external campaigns that CDT is engaged in.

II. Infrastructure Development (25%)

  • Regional Table Support: Assist the Political Director in growing, supporting, and stabilizing regional tables across California.
  • Grantee Capacity Building: Provide political strategy and technical assistance to CDT grantees to strengthen their year-round organizing capacity.
  • Electoral Power Mapping: Help identify geographic or demographic gaps in the current progressive infrastructure to guide future resource allocation.


III. Strategic Leadership (15%)

  • Executive Collaboration: Work with executive staff to further the mission of CDT and refine long-term strategies for building governing power.
  • Internal Briefings: Work with key executive staff to ensure donor-facing staff are aware of the current partisan and elected landscape.
  • Strategic Tracking: Assist with document tracking for strategy purposes, maintaining rigorous records of political outcomes and candidate performance.


Required Qualifications 

  • Political Savvy: Experience navigating California’s legislative and electoral landscape.
  • Relationship Management: Proven ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders, from grassroots organizers to high-net-worth donors.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with political data tools and document tracking systems.


Preferred Qualifications 

  • Candidate Campaign Experience: 1-2 cycles
  • Non-Profit organizational experience: 2 years

Substantial in-state, and some national travel required

Salary:

Range of $80,000 to $90,000.
