Position Overview

The Development Assistant is a self-starter who is extremely detail-oriented and passionate about changing the landscape of poverty in the Bay Area. As part of the Development Team, the Development Assistant will provide high-quality development systems support, with a specific focus on gift processing and maintenance of Tipping Point’s Salesforce database. They are a team player, capable of supporting and collaborating across teams.

This position reports to the Development Operations Manager.

What will you do?

Gifts Processing

  • Process all incoming gifts and issue acknowledgment letters within Tipping Point’s standard 48-hour period.
  • Create and maintain electronic files for all donors and gifts.
  • Act as liaison to the Finance team during monthly gift reconciliation and serve as the lead point of contact for the Development team on the annual audit.
  • Assist with pledge tracking, invoicing, and fulfillment.

Data + Reporting

  • Maintain clean and consistent donor data in Salesforce in accordance with best practices.
  • Partner with the Development Operations Manager and Technology Manager to evaluate current systems and identify areas for improvement to support strategic growth.
  • Build monthly dashboards and reports that highlight trends and inform strategic planning throughout the year.
  • Regularly produce giving data to help guide fundraising strategy and manage data updates after events and portfolio reviews.

What qualifications are we looking for?

Additionally, the Development Assistant must have:

  • Relevant professional experience in a role requiring acute attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce (or a similar CRM solution) strongly preferred, or the desire and ability to learn quickly.
  • Track record of exceptional customer service and flexibility.
  • Experience managing projects requiring prioritization across competing tasks and advanced organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral + written) 
  • he ability to handle sensitive information with precision and in a confidential manner.
  • The initiative, enthusiasm, and a willingness to pitch in.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with other staff and external parties (e.g. donors, partners, grantees, and others).
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment; ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
