Community Servings' mission is to actively engage the community to provide medically tailored, nutritious, scratch-made meals to chronically and critically ill individuals and their families. In addition, we are committed to prioritizing racial and economic justice and health equity in all our programs and business practices.

 

We are a dynamic and fast-growing agency at the forefront of the "Food is Medicine" field, providing over 1M medically tailored meals annually to clients and their families experiencing illness and food insecurity in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high-quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on-site food-service workforce development program. Over the past 34 years, the agency has provided 13M+ free, scratch-made meals.

 

Working closely with the Chief Development Officer, Director of Development, Senior Special Events Manager, and reporting to the Donor Services Manager, this position is responsible for managing critical development tasks and duties, including but not limited to data management, donor acknowledgements, mass mailing production (invitations, acknowledgments, etc.), and special events support.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  

Data and Finance Management (30 % of the position)

  • Performs data entry of donations and donor information into agency CRM (Salesforce)
  • Processes individual gifts, capital campaign pledges and payments, and corporate and foundation grants 
  • Codes and tracks matching gifts
  • Works closely with the Finance department to ensure that all income is properly coded and processed
  • Provides excellent customer service to donors over phone and email
  • Ensures that all monthly giving is properly downloaded and tracked in donor database
  • Prepares and sends donor acknowledgement letters and emails
  • Hand writes and mails acknowledgement and condolence cards to donation honorees
  • Prepares data for bulk imports (event guest lists, etc.)
  • Updates donor database and finance reports with changes to contact information and gift coding
  • Continually monitors and cleans data within Salesforce

 

Donor Engagement and Events (40 % of the position)

  • Works closely with the Donor Engagement and Events Coordinator. 
  • Works on-site at events, including volunteer management and donor relations
  • Provides excellent customer service to make event guests feel welcome
  • Assist the Donor Engagement and Events Coordinator in the planning and implementing of smaller events. Manage invitation lists, RSVP lists, and other duties as necessary.
  • Processes payments and pie orders for Pie in the Sky
  • Supports the Donor Engagement and Events team for Meals for Moms and Dinners for Dads fundraising activities including processing, fulfillment and all administrative tasks associated with both events.  
  • Work closely with the Major Gifts and Capital Campaign teams in planning and execution of targeted acquisition and stewardship events

 

Donor Stewardship (30 % of the position)

  • Perform prospect research on major giving, planned giving, and capital campaign candidates
  • Record capital campaign pledges in Salesforce and maintain documentation of pledges
  • Prepare and send invoices for upcoming pledge payments

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Attention to detail on data entry
  • Able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced office environment
  • Expertise in MS Office products required, experience with Salesforce or other database platform desirable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees, volunteers, vendors, and clients of different cultural and ethnic persuasions is a must
  • Night and weekend work may be required before and during select meetings and events.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Demands and Special Work Conditions:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is routinely sitting for long periods of time.
