Development Coordinator

OVERVIEW: The Development Coordinator is a crucial member of the Philanthropy team and is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of mid-level donors as well as several key development programs, including the Crisis Nursery Sustainers Circle; is community facing, responsible for meeting with donors, attending community eventsand providing tours;assists with grantresearch and solicitation as well as event sponsorship solicitations; works closely with the Director of Philanthropy to ensure that the Philanthropy team meets department goals and fulfills the philanthropic needs of the agency. The duties and responsibilities associated with this positionmay evolve as the needs of the Philanthropy department and the agency change; the ability to work in a flexible, ever-changing environment is essential.

DUTIES:

• Fund Development, DonorOutreach & Stewardship
• Work closely with the Director of Philanthropy on key philanthropic priorities to achievethe philanthropic goals of the agency.
• Assist Directorof Philanthropy with donor relatedoutreach, including making donor requests, attending community events, speaking on behalf of the agency and providing facility tours.
• Assist Directorof Philanthropy in securing event sponsorships, in-kinddonations, and in-kind services for the organization.
• Work with the Marketing Manager to implement the Philanthropy department’s digital fundraising plan through email campaigns, social media and other digitalplatforms, identifying new digital fundraising opportunities as they arise.
• Oversee the Crisis NurserySustainers Circle Programand ensure donor retention and continued growth of this monthly giving program.
• Work with the Director of Philanthropy to identify new creative opportunities to raise funds for the three highest needs programs – the Crisis Nursery, Residential Program and Family Resource Centers.
• Corporate & Foundation Gifts & GrantManagement
• Assist Directorof Philanthropy with the identification, writing and editingof corporate and foundation grant proposals. Oversee a portfolio of corporate and foundation grants.
• Conduct grant researchto identify new funding opportunities that align with the organization’s

mission and funding needs.

• Attend and participate in other SCH activities as required.
• Attend and/or work evening and weekend events as needed.

LOCATION: 2750 Sutterville Rd. Sacramento, CA 95820

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. With ability to work outside normal work schedule as needed.

SALARY: $31.50 - $35.43 per hour, to start

QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Communications, Marketing, Public

Relations, Public Service, Development, Business Administration, Sales or a similar related field is required.

At least 3 years of practical experience working in the fund development and/orfundraising field in a similar capacity is required.

Driving is an essential function of this job. As such, employees in this position will be required to furnish their own vehicleto be used in the course of employment. A valid driver’s license and minimum insurance coverage is also required. Must be at least 21 years old.

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Able to report to workon a regular and reliable basis.
• Experience in fund development includinggrant solicitations, seekingevent sponsorships and conducting donor solicitations and meetings.
• Experience with public speaking,making presentations and leading meetings.
• Familiarity with Blackbaud RaisersEdge NXT, Greater Givingand Online Express.
• Ability to operate independently, with excellent projectmanagement skills and follow-through as well as being an active member of the team.
• Ability to be proactive in creative problemsolving, while maintaining the integrity and core values of the organization.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills as exhibited by the ability to easily convey, whether through writtenword, public speaking,or electronic media,the needs and goals of the department and Agency.
• Must be able to establishand maintain effectiverelationships with key stakeholders, including individual supporters, corporate donors and Board members.
• Advanced levelskill with Microsoft Word,Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to manage multipletasks simultaneously and efficiently.
• Ability to work nights,weekends, and outside of a normal work schedule as needed.
• Able to report to workon a regular and reliable basis.
