The Tenement Museum is currently seeking a full-time Database Operations Manager to join its five-person Development team.
Founded in 1988, the Tenement Museum tells the uniquely American stories of immigrants, migrants, and refugees in the ongoing creation of the United States. We are widely recognized as a model for narrative history, storytelling, and visitor engagement. The Museum is housed in two historic buildings located on Orchard Street in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Daily Educator-led tours of family homes, walking tours of the neighborhood, school programs, special events and other experiences share the stories of former residents and their contributions to the evolving American identity.
Position Description: The Database Operations Manager will oversee the Development team’s data integrity, reporting, and analysis in Salesforce and integrated platforms. Their work will support fundraising from all the Museum’s sources, including individuals, members, corporations, foundations, and government. They will use analytics to help the team cultivate a growing virtual audience. The Museum is currently migrating to Salesforce, along with Ticketure for ticketing and Pardot for email marketing. This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative, data-driven professional to create new workflows and operational efficiencies that can significantly advance the Museum’s fundraising.
The Museum is highly collaborative. The Database Operations Manager will work closely with all members of the Development Team, as well as colleagues in Finance, Marketing, the President’s Office, and Visitor Services. This position requires proof of full Covid-19 vaccination and booster (no exceptions) and adherence to all onsite COVID-19 safety measures, including mask-wearing when in office. All staff members are required to work onsite at least 4 days a week.
Reports to: Chief Development Officer. (The Museum is currently hiring a new CDO. In the interim, this position reports to the acting head of Development.)
Classification: Full-time, exempt member of the Development Department
Responsibilities:
- Manage the Museum’s day-to-day fundraising operations within Salesforce. (Note: The Museum will be using Altru through June 2022.)
- Oversee and monitor data entry, acknowledgements, and moves management processes within Salesforce, ensuring accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Work closely with the Development & Membership Associate to ensure the accuracy of data entry.
- Create reports and dashboards to support fundraising (ex. giving analyses, revenue comparisons, membership trends, portfolio tracking, program data).
- Support the Chief Development Officer and leadership team in preparing quarterly Board reports.
- Track progress toward annual fundraising goals and lead monthly reconciliation meetings between Development and Finance.
- Generate reports and lists for mailings, appeals, and email communications.
- Leverage email marketing analytics in Salesforce and Pardot in collaboration with the Marketing team to drive fundraising.
- Collaborate with Development colleagues to establish Salesforce workflows for tracking fundraising events and managing grants.
- Serve as the Development Department’s resident expert for Salesforce, Ticketure, Give Lively, Pardot, iWave, and Stripe.
- Provide periodic support for onsite and virtual evening events.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest in the Museum’s mission and the im/migration history of New York.
- 3-5 years of experience with fundraising databases, including significant experience managing fundraising operations within Salesforce.
- Demonstrated ability to design and run complex reports and dashboards.
- Best practices knowledge of donor moves management, grants management, and nonprofit accounting
- Ability to communicate technical procedures, such as reporting parameters, to colleagues with varied technical backgrounds.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with video conferencing software.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
