Position Overview:
The Community Impact & Engagement Intern will join EECM?s Development team for a hands-on professional experience focused on community engagement, relationship-building, fundraising, communications, events, research, and nonprofit development. This internship is designed for a student who wants to build a professional network, develop marketable skills, contribute creative ideas, and see how relationships and community support can drive meaningful social impact.
East End Cooperative Ministry changes the lives of people facing the impacts of poverty. As part of the Development team, the intern will help advance this mission by connecting EECM with the individuals, businesses, donors, volunteers, and community partners whose involvement strengthens the organization and its ability to serve the community. The intern will gain an understanding of how a nonprofit builds its public presence, communicates its impact, engages supporters, and creates opportunities for people to become invested in its mission.
This internship is particularly well suited for students interested in communications, marketing, public relations, business, nonprofit leadership, fundraising, community development, social impact, or organizational leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Depending on current organizational priorities and the intern?s interests, responsibilities may include:
- Assist with community engagement initiatives that increase awareness of EECM and its programs.
- Help identify creative ways to engage individuals, businesses, community organizations, and potential partners.
- Participate in outreach to community partners and stakeholders.
- Support donor and community appreciation and stewardship activities.
- Assist with planning and executing fundraising campaigns, special events, community events, and sponsorship initiatives.
- Conduct research on businesses, community organizations, philanthropic trends, prospective partners, community opportunities, and strategies for expanding EECM?s presence.
- Help develop creative strategies for attracting new supporters and deepening existing relationships.
- Assist with communications and storytelling that highlight EECM?s programs, participants, accomplishments, and community impact.
- Create or contribute to content for newsletters, social media, outreach materials, campaigns, presentations, and other communications.
- Work with EECM program teams to identify compelling stories, accomplishments, statistics, and community needs that can be communicated externally.
- Assist with volunteer engagement and opportunities that connect community members with EECM.
- Attend appropriate community, organizational, donor, or partner meetings and events.
- Contribute ideas for reaching new audiences, including students, young professionals, businesses, community groups, and emerging supporters.
- Participate in special projects based on the intern?s interests and EECM?s current priorities

Work Schedule and Compensation:
- 10-15 hours per week; Flexible to accommadate school schedule. (Some evenings and weekends will be required)
