Development Manager

Hybrid – Purchase, NY

Full-Time, Exempt

Salary Range: $65,000–$75,000

(Probationary salary with opportunity for increase after 90-day successful evaluation)

Reports to: Director of External Affairs

Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) helps people in prison develop critical life skills through the arts, modeling an approach to the justice system based on human dignity rather than punishment.

RTA is a growing organization with expanding programs and a strong base of institutional and individual supporters.

Position Overview

RTA is seeking an experienced, highly organized, relationship-oriented Development Manager to support and strengthen our fundraising initiatives during this pivotal moment of growth.

The Development Manager will:

• Report to the Director of External Affairs

• Manage multiple fundraising functions

• Lead institutional funding efforts

• Conduct donor research

• Strengthen systems to support fundraising growth

• Collaborate across Programs, Finance, Operations, and Marketing & Communications

Key Responsibilities

Institutional Giving & Grant Management

• Research and track funding opportunities aligned with RTA priorities

• Support the full lifecycle of institutional and corporate fundraising (prospecting, cultivation, proposals, budgeting, reporting, renewals)

• Draft compelling content aligned with funder priorities

• Serve as primary relationship manager for foundation and corporate funders

• Coordinate with Finance to ensure grant compliance and tracking

• Maintain pipeline of institutional and corporate revenue goals

• Prepare funder summaries, reports, and board briefing materials

Individual Giving & Moves Management

• Support individual giving across donor levels

• Focus on mid-level donor engagement and long-term support

• Manage moves-management process within CRM

• Conduct donor and prospect research

• Support cultivation strategies and stewardship touchpoints

• Partner with board and staff to leverage networks for donor growth

Development Operations & Data Management

• Maintain accurate donor records in CRM

• Provide backup support for gift processing and reconciliation

• Track fundraising performance and create dashboards

• Generate reports to support strategic decision-making

• Collaborate with Communications on donor-centered campaigns

Events & Gala Support

• Support planning and execution of fundraising events

• Secure sponsorships and in-kind donations

• Monitor event expenses and revenue collection

• Play a key role in execution of RTA’s annual Gala

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience

• Experience with grant writing, institutional funding, individual giving, and events

• Strong research, organizational, and project management skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with donor management systems (Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, Bloomerang preferred)

• Experience with research tools (iWave, DonorSearch; EveryAction and iWave a plus)

• Budget development experience

• Knowledge of foundations and funding trends

• Knowledge of prison reform, education, and/or arts funders a plus

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

• Self-motivated and collaborative

• Deep commitment to RTA’s mission and equity-centered work

Work Environment

Hybrid role based in Purchase, NY

Minimum three days in office: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

Occasional evening/weekend work required for events

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $65,000–$75,000
