About Vocal Youth Miami

Vocal Youth Miami empowers young people through vocal music experiences that build life skills and foster connection, self expression, and community. We serve students in multiple neighborhoods across Miami-Dade through choirs, songwriting, leadership programs, summer intensives, and performances that center youth voice.

Position Overview

We are hiring one new development team member, and are open to filling the role at either the Development Manager (full-time) or Development Director (part-time) level depending on the experience and strengths of the selected candidate.

What does development mean?

This person will help power our mission by:

  • Building relationships with donors and partners
  • Leading and coordinating fundraising efforts and campaigns
  • Helping us meet our annual revenue goals
  • Sharing meaningful stories through email, social media, and events
  • Keeping our community informed, appreciated, and connected
  • Supporting the behind-the-scenes systems that keep our organization strong and growing

Option 1: Development Manager (Full-Time)

Reports to: Executive Artistic Director

Ideal for: Early–mid career candidates with strong communication and organizational skills who are excited to learn development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and steward relationships with donors
  • Maintain donor records in the CRM (Network for Good)
  • Coordinate gift processing, acknowledgements, and retention efforts
  • Support fundraising campaigns and events (e.g., Give Miami Day, benefit concert)
  • Draft newsletters and email communications
  • Support social media storytelling and content gathering
  • Assist with board materials, reports, and development operations
  • Help strengthen systems, data, and organization-wide processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years of professional experience (sales, nonprofit, marketing, communications, etc.)
  • Strong writing and digital communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Willingness to learn fundraising best practices
  • Passion for youth, community, and the arts

Option 2: Development Director (Part-Time)

Reports to: Executive Artistic Director

Ideal for: Experienced fundraising professionals who can lead strategy while also rolling up their sleeves.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead annual fundraising strategy across individual, corporate, and foundation giving
  • Steward donor relationships and deepen engagement
  • Support and guide major donor cultivation
  • Lead Founder’s Circle retention and growth
  • Oversee donor recognition, acknowledgements, and stewardship
  • Guide donor messaging, appeals, and campaigns
  • Support board and committee engagement around development
  • Oversee CRM management, reporting, and goal tracking
  • Contribute to communications and organizational storytelling

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience
  • Demonstrated success in individual giving
  • Experience with CRM systems
  • Strong strategic thinking and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent writing and communication
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Passion for youth, arts, and community-centered work

Compensation

$40,000–$65,000 total compensation, depending on role and experience.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work environment (mix of remote work, office time, and events)
  • Some evenings and weekends required for performances, donor events, and community gatherings
