DIRECTOR OF CONSTITUENT SERVICES, DALLAS OFFICE OF U.S. SENATOR JOHN CORNYN -

Job Summary: This position manages the Senator’s casework department that consists of seven full-time casework staff, one staff assistant, and interns. All of the Senator’s casework team are located in the Dallas office. This position reports to the State Director who is based in Austin.

Tasks:

  • Supervise casework department in performance of their duties to ensure prompt and accurate responses.
  • Review and edit caseworkers’ letters.
  • Assign caseworkers to agencies or specific issues.
  • Act as a liaison for the Senator with federal agencies and constituents as needed.
  • Answer select casework correspondence and verbal communications with constituents.
  • Screen and interview potential new staff; train new staff.
  • Communicate with Senator and office staff, Members and representatives from other Senate and House offices, constituents, outside organizations and others.

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with significant professional and management experience.

Skills/Requirements:

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate with a variety of constituents possessing diverse points of view with tact & diplomacy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and follow through on assigned tasks to completion with little supervision.
  • Strong ability to effectively interface with various levels of federal government agencies, public figures and influential stakeholders.
  • Regular, predictable, and punctual in-person attendance required for performance of duties, including supervision of caseworkers and working with confidential constituent information.
  • Minimal nights, weekends and holidays required.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
