About Girls on the Run–Chicago

Girls on the Run–Chicago (GOTRC) is a nonprofit youth development organization dedicated to helping girls activate their limitless potential through a curriculum that creatively integrates running. As the largest affiliate of Girls on the Run International, GOTRC serves thousands of girls annually across Chicagoland, with a strong focus on under-resourced communities. The organization is in an exciting phase of growth, guided by an equity-centered strategic plan and a deep commitment to inclusion, access, and community impact.

The Director of Impact is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, delivery, and evaluation of all GOTRC programs. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role oversees a team of three and leads cross-functional collaboration to ensure programming is responsive, mission-aligned, and community-informed. The Director of Impact will also serve as a key organizational voice in external partnerships, community engagement, and volunteer leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead long-term program planning and seasonal execution across 250+ sites.
  • Oversee coach recruitment, training, and retention strategies for nearly 900 volunteers.
  • Cultivate partnerships with schools, community organizations, and local leaders.
  • Guide the Community Advisory Council and integrate community insights into programming.
  • Supervise and develop a high-performing Impact Team, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to align program goals with fundraising strategies.
  • Manage program evaluation, data analysis, and reporting to ensure measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the department’s budget and contribute to organizational financial planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of nonprofit experience, including 5+ years in program leadership.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling community-based or school-based programs.
  • Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and youth development.
  • Experience managing teams, budgets, and cross-sector partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Familiarity with youth development principles, safety standards, and program evaluation tools.
