Are you an experienced finance or administration manager, and love working with numbers? The Southeast Asian Development Center (SEADC) is seeking a Finance and Operations Director. The Finance and Operations Director is responsible for the effective management of Southeast Asian Development Center’s financial, operations, and human resource functions in support of our mission to eliminate the social, economic and education equality gap affecting Southeast Asian communities. The position serves as part of the internal leadership team and is instrumental to SEADC’s continued success. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with specific expertise in nonprofit fiscal management and fund accounting, human resource law and best practice, nonprofit management and governance, and operations management.

Great Benefits & Competitive Salary
Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 dependent on experience, Full-time, Exempt
Benefits include: medical, dental, vision, 401K with employer match, AD&D, EAP, commuter benefits, 12 holiday days, 10 vacation days and 10 sick days per year.
Work Location: SEADC’s office is located in downtown San Francisco, convenient to BART and other public transit. Our staff is currently in a hybrid in-person and remote work environment. Once public health conditions allow safely returning to the office fully. This position will be working in-person at our office space.

Responsibilities:
Finance and Accounting
• Accounting: Manage all accounting activities including payroll functions, reconciliations, shared allocations, and restricted assets, while ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, regulatory requirements, and other policies and best practices. Reviews payroll prior to submission. Design, administer and oversee accounting structure, fiscal policies, internal controls, systems (QuickBooks), and budget tools (Excel). Supervise and support bookkeeper.
• Audit and Tax Filings: Lead the preparation and review of year-end audited financial statements and federal and state filings in conjunction with independent auditors.
• Budgeting: Lead the preparation of all organizational budgets and financial plans and provide high-quality fiscal management, including tracking income and expenses, reporting against budget, updating quarterly forecasts, and monitoring cash flow. Present accurate and timely budget and financial reports to Board/Leadership, and others.
• Contracts: Ensure acceptable requirements and tracking abilities; monitors compliance and reporting to ensure synchronization with all departments; review grant budget applications. Reviews financial reports with management team.
• Reporting: Develop reports to enhance monitoring and management of programs, restricted grants, cash flow projections, and board-restricted net assets. Perform long-term financial modeling to aid strategic planning and development approaches.
Operations
• Design and manage the practices, protocols, and policies that support collaboration and decision making across the team and strengthen our financial and operational systems
• Ensuring compliance with all government regulations, including those related to employment, and charitable registrations
• Insurance: Oversee risk management, including all organizational insurance coverage.
• Governance: Provide support to Executive Director in managing the Board of Directors and committees, attending Board meetings as necessary and documenting actions through minutes.
• Identify and lead the implementation of tools and templates that support logistics, project management, information sharing, collaboration, record keeping, and financial management with internal and external partners. Supervise and support Marketing and Communications Associate staff.
• Facilities: Oversee building management and vendors to ensure efficient maintenance and operations of facilities. Supervise lease renewal, termination, and expansion of facility selection processes.
• IT Management: Oversee IT and computer policies, security, resources, software, connectivity, and support either in-house or through an IT support vendor.
Human Resources
• Human Resources Management: Oversee and update all HR processes to support an engaged, talented, and diverse team. Ensure compliance with relevant employment law and proper maintenance of all personnel records. Supervise and support HR/Office Manager staff.
• Organizational Culture: Work closely with the Executive Director and leadership team to maintain a trusting, transparent, inclusive, and results-focused culture.
• Personnel Policies: Administer all personnel policies and maintain a compliant employee handbook. Stay current with HR law and best practices and recommend updates as needed.
• Benefits Administration: Manage, monitor, and communicate SEADC’s benefit programs, ensuring the best possible benefits in the context of available resources.
• Retirement Plan: Manage SEADC 401(k) Plan in conjunction with Third Party Administrator.
• Training and Professional Development: Support the organization and staff by providing access to training and other professional development resources.
• Provide benefit oversight: Healthcare insurance, paid time off accrual, and 401k enrollment and matching.
Qualifications:
• Experience working in nonprofit finance and administration, with knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices, GAAP, and bookkeeping functions, and at least two years of managerial-level or one year director-level experience leading finance functions, including budget development
• Strong ability to translate big picture, long-term, strategic thinking into short-term project planning and management and the desire to execute the day-to-day tasks that the work requires
• High emotional intelligence and strong capacity to self-manage, multitask, prioritize, work collaboratively, shape organizational culture, diagnose problems and find creative solutions, and learn from mistakes
• Experience with human resources and operation functions and related legal compliance
• Familiarity with IT management and ability to ensure a functioning computing environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills accompanied by an analytical and problem-solving mindset and an ability to stay organized and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to fulfilling job duties with integrity and honesty, building collaborative partnerships with colleagues, and exercising sound judgment that reflects organizational values
