Summary:
The WTA is seeking a Director of Partnership Communications & PR to lead proactive media relations and communication strategies that amplify the visibility and impact of WTA and its association with WTA sponsors and partners. This role is expected to foster strong relationships with media, enhance partner storytelling, and align communication efforts with the WTA’s mission to elevate women’s tennis globally, with a specific focus on WTA’s valued partners and their association with the WTA.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
  • Strategic PR for WTA surrounding official sponsors/partnerships, working directly with WTA’s partners on storytelling, campaigns and relevant PR initiatives.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive PR strategies to promote WTA sponsors and partnerships, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and brand values.
  • Writing and implementing PR strategy to raise the profile of the Tour and women’s tennis through partnerships and strategic partnerships.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key partners and stakeholders, serving as the main point of contact for media and PR inquiries related to sponsorships and other partnerships such as data partners, licensees and content distributors

Media Relations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure positive coverage for WTA sponsors and commercial partners.
  • Proactive pitching of WTA, player, and tournament storylines as they relate to commercial partnerships
  • Lead media relations efforts to promote commercial partnerships through strategic storytelling, securing high-profile coverage across sports, business, and consumer media
  • Craft compelling narratives that showcase partner contributions and activations, driving engagement and awareness.

Content Development
  • Oversee the creation of press releases, media kits, talking points, and other communication materials surrounding partnerships and partner/WTA initiatives.

Event Support
  • Collaborate with commercial partners and internal teams to provide PR support for commercial partner related events, activations, and campaigns.
Measurement and Reporting
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of PR campaigns, providing regular reports and insights to internal stakeholders and partners.
Collaboration
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Comms, Digital) to ensure cohesive and impactful communication campaigns that highlight commercial partnerships
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • University degree (BA/BS) required.
  • At least 8 years of previous public relations experience; experience in international sports business public relations/marketing/journalism preferred
  • International PR communication experience preferred
  • Experience meeting media needs with an understanding of various media formats, the media landscape, and the production process.
  • Proficient in qualifying creative assets, spokespeople, and content for relevancy, accuracy, and quality
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive deadlines.

Travel Requirements:
  • On-site press & publicity management possible
  • Travel approximately 25-50 days/year

Position Type/Work Schedule:
Full Time, 40 hours a week. Typical schedule will be Monday-Friday. Must be available for occasional evenings/weekends.
