The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) is seeking candidates for the Director, Political Engagement. The position is responsible for building financial support as well as designing and executing political strategies to maximize HAP’s political influence—through the political action committees of The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP)—HAPAC/HAPAC-Federal (HAPAC), and political campaign activities supporting the best candidates for public office for HAP’s agenda. Candidates will possess experience in political fundraising, campaigns for political office, and the political landscape in Pennsylvania with an eye for creativity. This position will work with HAP member hospitals to generate support for HAP’s political strategies. This employee will meet with political and business professionals and build cooperative plans across various sectors of the economy, the electorate, and the political parties in furtherance of electing the best candidates to advance the hospital agenda. The successful candidates will also need experience guiding political and fundraising consultants’ plans, budgets, messages, and appropriate ways to campaign. Candidates will possess knowledge of current government guidelines, laws, and reporting procedures for PACS and experience with Pennsylvania’s modern political campaigning practices. Candidates will possess excellent communication, networking, fundraising, project management, social media, organization, lobbying, and campaigning skills.
Successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in political science, public or a related field. Candidates should have at least five years of work experience in campaigns, political spending, PAC fundraising preferably in Pennsylvania. Candidates should be comfortable meeting with high-level C-suite positions and elected officials. Candidates should also be familiar with databases and excel, mass email platforms and practices, social media fundraising and messaging, digital, television, and political mail advertising.
