Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington’s 3rd Congressional District is seeking a District Staff Assistant for her Vancouver, WA office. Candidates should possess excellent critical thinking skills, situational awareness, curiosity, and a good sense of humor. This is a full-time position. Southwest Washington/Washington State ties are strongly preferred.  

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing a welcoming environment and positive first impression of the office to constituents, visitors, and key stakeholders
  • Managing the front desk and generally contributing to a cheerful and focused environment
  • Preparing materials for the Member’s meetings while in district
  • Assisting staff in preparing, organizing, and staffing meetings while the Member is in district
  • Handling incoming calls with poise, professionalism, and promptness
  • Capturing input from constituents on policy matters for the Member office’s consideration and response
  • Ensuring constituent casework is distributed to appropriate district staff in an efficient and effective manner
  • Managing programs such as the office internship program, the Congressional App Challenge, and Congressional Art Competition

Preferred qualifications:

  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and think critically in a deadline-driven environment
  • Effective teamwork skills and the ability to support the needs of multiple team members and leaders in the office required
  • Sharp attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle with auto insurance and excellent driving record
  • Familiarity with logging, automotive, construction, commercial fishing, or Southwest Washington a strong plus
  • A college degree is not required. Non-traditional candidates are strongly encouraged to apply

Starting salary for this position is $50,000+. Employment benefits include medical, dental, vision and life insurance, student loan repayment, retirement plans, and other benefits in addition to paid time off, sick leave, and federal holidays.
