Job Description
Congresswoman Scanlon seeks an organized and motivated Staff Assistant to manage front office operations in her District Office. Ideal candidates will have strong interpersonal skills, exceptional written and verbal communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Professional working proficiency in Spanish is highly desired but not required.
Responsibilities of the District Office Staff Assistant include serving as the initial point of contact for the office by greeting visitors, answering phones, and handling constituent correspondence; administrative tasks; assisting with casework and outreach activities; and managing 2-4 interns each semester.
The District Office Staff Assistant is expected to work in-office Monday-Friday, 9AM to 5PM; all staff members must also accommodate additional scheduling needs — including long hours, nights, and weekends — as required based on office commitments. Possession of a driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a vehicle are preferred.
This position is based out of Congresswoman Scanlon’s District Office in Chester, PA. The salary for this position is $55,000 per year plus benefits.

Essential Job Functions:
- Greet all visitors — including walk-ins and individuals meeting with the congresswoman or staff.
- Answer live phone calls and review voicemails for the office; log all messages in the constituent management system (Fireside).
- Process and log incoming mail; draft all outgoing constituent correspondence for matters managed by the District Office.
- Lead all initial communication with constituents seeking casework assistance from the office, including referrals to other offices as appropriate.
- Distribute incoming casework to the appropriate team member.
- Handle various administrative tasks for the office.
- Act as the representative for the congresswoman at assigned meetings and events.
- Staff the congresswoman at events as required.
