Executive Director - Part-Time

Position Type: Part-Time (15–20 hours per week)

About the Organization

Outdoor Access Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to making the outdoors accessible for everyone. The organization creates life-changing experiences for wheelchair users and individuals with mobility challenges disabilities through adaptive adventures, inclusive events, and community engagement.

By providing adaptive equipment, trained volunteers, and thoughtfully planned outdoor experiences, the Outdoor Access Project removes barriers that prevent people with disabilities from accessing parks, trails, and wild places. The organization believes that adventure is a human right and that nature should be open to everyone.

Position Summary

Outdoor Access Project is seeking a mission-driven Part-Time Executive Director to help grow the organization’s impact and expand opportunities for individuals with mobility challenges to experience the outdoors.

This role will focus primarily on:

Planning and executing awareness and fundraising events

• Fundraising and donor development

• Strategic partnerships and sponsorships

• Expanding community awareness of the organization’s mission

The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors to develop funding streams and strengthen partnerships with corporations, foundations, outdoor organizations, disability advocacy groups, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Development

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy

• Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors

• Identify and pursue grant opportunities

• Build and maintain a donor pipeline and stewardship program

• Lead annual fundraising campaigns and targeted giving initiatives

Partnerships & Strategic Relationships

• Develop partnerships with outdoor recreation organizations, national and state parks, disability advocacy groups, and outdoor brands

• Expand collaboration opportunities that increase outdoor access for individuals with mobility challenges

• Represent the Outdoor Access Project in community and industry forums

Events & Community Engagement

• Work with municipalities, corporations, and other non-profit organizations to develop, plan, and execute fundraising and awareness events

• Support adaptive outdoor experiences and volunteer-driven programs

• Build community awareness through outreach and storytelling

Organizational Leadership

• Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to execute strategic priorities

• Provide regular updates on fundraising progress, partnerships, and organizational growth

• Help build operational systems that support nonprofit growth

• Support volunteer engagement and program expansion

Qualifications

Required

• Ability to lift 60+ lbs

• 3+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or advancement

• Demonstrated success securing funding through donors, grants, or sponsorships

• Strong relationship-building and networking abilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience planning or managing nonprofit events

Preferred

• Experience working with disability advocacy, adaptive recreation, or outdoor access initiatives

• Grant writing experience

• Experience working with nonprofit boards

Compensation

• This is a part-time compensated position with flexible scheduling. 

• Hourly, starting at $25/hour as a W2 employee.
