COURT WATCH MONTGOMERY (CWM) is seeking an EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (ED) to provide vision, energy and leadership to our efforts to make systemic changes in how courts handle intimate partner violence (IPV) cases. To achieve this goal, CWM recruits, trains and supports volunteers who monitor and collect data on court hearings related to IPV, develops reports and advocates for recommended changes to improve policy and practice.

The CWM ED reports to the Board of Directors and works in partnership with the Board to implement CWM’s mission, vision, values, goals and annual objectives.

Qualifications

We are seeking an ED with knowledge, passion and interest in IPV and the judicial system and at least 3 years of relevant experience, including in:

  • Management, budgeting, fundraising and grant writing;
  • Communication, public speaking, correspondence and social media;
  • Data collection, analysis and report writing; and
  • Recruiting and retaining volunteers, which are core to CWM’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in developing and overseeing organizational and financial matters, including budget development, grant writing and management, fundraising with foundations, corporate and individual donors, and providing regular financial reports to the Board, government and funders (as required).
  • Supervise staff (Data Manager/Analyst) and occasional interns.
  • Communicate CWM’s mission and vision internally (Board, staff, volunteers & donors) and to external stakeholders within the County and State, including courts, government agencies, legislators and other non-profits working on domestic violence concerns.
  • Oversee the hiring, training, workflow, retention, professional development and performance reviews of staff, ensuring high level of program quality.
  • Work with staff to recruit, train and retain volunteers, including developing mechanisms for in-person and on-line support, opportunities for volunteers to provide feedback on what they observe in court, and programs for continuing learning.
  • Ensure the legal integrity of the organization, monitoring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Salary – $30K-$45K (20 hours/week), commensurate with experience. Potential for salary increase with revenue growth of the organization.

Location – Hybrid. Work is mostly remote, but includes in-person volunteer events, speaking engagements, or other on-site activities. Applicant must live in or near Montgomery County, Maryland. Most on-site locations will be in Silver Spring or Rockville.
